 Hi Dan

Did your fathers boat have a doctor on board? I know some Doctors went out with the boats?

 Hello!

No, not really , they did what they could and he was sent home on a flying boat. There in France they removed the finger.  The scare is large to this day.

Regards,

My Father served on U-69 a type VIIC, and U-805 a Type IXC/40 .  He spent some time during the war training new Trop. Crewman also.
