Hi Dan,

Thanks for the update. Can I ask where you got the bull decals from? I only know of one bull (for U 751) on ULAD sheet 3? Are there other sheets on the market now (maybe more recent releases?).

Looking forward to the pics.

Cheers,

Dougie

Hello Dougie,

Yes, ULAD #7201 has the Snorting Bulls for U-94. They are very close to the late U-47 Bulls. I did have to retouch the tails to make them correct for a late U-47. They are the best I have seen so far.

I am still waiting for some paint from WEM to finish the hull of U-47. I also ordered the paint I will need for my U-218 ; the Type VIID I am working on.

Regards,

I have just received the paint from WEM in the UK! Great company WEM! I highly recommend them when you want to paint a U-Boot project! The Colourcoats paint is the best I have seen. As far as I know their line of Kreigsmarine colours are the nearest to the KM standards.  So now I can finish my U-47 project. I plan to shoot some paint and finish the basic clolours tonight! Yea!!!!

Regards,

Hi Dan,

Yeah, Dave, Caroline and John from WEM are really good - very helpful. And their KM paint range comes in very handy, especially the Schlickgrau 58 as there is no RAL equivalent.  Good luck with the painting.

Cheers,

Dougie

Hi everyone,

Here are two shots of Dan's U 47 model, modified from the Revell 72nd VIIC kit -

Congratulations on a very fine build, Dan! Your many hours have certainly paid off. I see many VIIB/U 47 specific modifications - the scratchbuilt air trunks, altered aft deck railings,  Pillkoppen pennant,  the extra VIIB drainage holes. I also see some other modifications you've made to the Revell kit - supports within the main drainage area, manhole inspection covers, U-Brass cheek pieces, Modelbrass drainge hole pieces, waterline decals, etc.. You also cut the hull, if I remember correctly, to give a VIIB length rather than the VIIC kit length.

I've seen dozens of U 47 models in all different scales - Revell 125th, Robbe 40th , Amati 72nd, Neptun 1250th, HP Models 700th, Mirage 400th, one from Krick, and a hybrid with the Revell hull and Amati tower. Yours is obviously the most accurate of all the U 47 models I've seen. A build article would be nice too. Well done!

Cheers,

Dougie
