Hello All!
I am working on the details of building a 1/72 IX C/40 U-Boat! Yes, a 1/72 scale Type IX! I know, no one makes a model of the Type IX U-Boat. Yes, but I have found a man here in the US that makes a 1/72 vacuum form hull and C-Tower ! He also makes a Type IX D as well! So I know this will be a major undertaking, much more than doing a U-47 in 1/72 So here I go again!
Dougie, my ole friend; I will need your help again!!! So if you are still around write me on Private Message or on this fourm.
Will let all know how this is going with situation reports. I will not get the kit for 4-6 weeks. will let you know when I get this. I will try to document this build with pics on this fourm as I go.
Best regards,
Dan Bauer

Hi All!
Situation Report!
Thanks to Dougie and the internet I have enough research to start the U-805 project. I plan to finish this model as a full hulled model. So I will need to detail the entire hull. I plan to use a Revell type VII C/41 model to get some of the details. I will try to use the C-Tower from the vacufrom,, but if that is too bad I will try to use the one from the Revell Kit. So I will see how things go when I get both kits.
Any ideas or techincal assistance would be great. More heads are better than one !
More to come.....

Hi All!
Situation Report:
I recieved the Revell 1/72 Type VIIC/41 model today. I will be using this model for alot of the details on the U-805 Type IXC/40 build. I will be also scratch building a pressure hull and will have to also scratch build the wood deck for this build as well. As far as I know, no one makes these for a 1/72 Type IX. This project will be a true one of a kind. I should be recieving the vacuform kit of the Type IX before the end of September. Then the real work begins
Regards,
Dan

Hello All!
I have found a source of 1/72 Type IX C Photo Brass ! It is in the Czech Republic! By the pics I have seen of this, it is really super! But the price is really high! 189 Euros for the whole set! Thats over $300 US dollars! So I must wait until I return from the IPMS Nats in Ohio before I can get this. I am taking my U-201 diorama to the Nat. Wish me luck!!!
Regards,
Dan

Hello All!
Well, I won a 3rd place for my U-201 diorama. You can do to the IPMS 2009 National forum and see all the great models. I helped judge all the subs including several Type VII U-boats. There were 2512 models entered, they only gave out 400 awards, so I consider myself honored to get anything!
I am ordering my Type IX vacuform and my photo brass on September 1 so the work will soon begin.

Also I plan to go to Chicago in the spring to get some hull detail shots of U-505. I am about 4-5 hours away.
regards,
Dan
