Hi,
Yes I have seen this site. They have some interesting info on U-Boot POWs . Some interesting Photos of the U-805 crew after their surrender. I remember my father telling me they thought the American's were silly with all their guns pointing at them. Where were they going to go? You can see the smiles and the expressions on the Germans faces. Some good stuff. I hope they develop the site even more.
Regards,

They have a picture of U848 that you can enlarge on there. It is one of my all time favourite images of a Uboat. You can clearly see several crew members sheltering from the air attack. A very powerfull image

Hi Gunther!
You would be covering too if someone dropped a depthcharge only 50 yards from you! And trying to shoot 50 cal. Machine guns at you!
I'd be changing my pants afterward!
Great pic! Just a little taste of what war is really like! No "Rambo" there!
Regards,

Hi at all,
there are a lot of good photos from U-boats. My grandfather was on the U-848, I´m glad to see the photos, really.
I think, the Germans don´t smile on the photo from the U-848. It was there last day to live.
Regards

Hi Daryl!
My father was on U69, and U-805. What did your father do on the Boote? My father was a Tropedo Tech. He was in charge the care of each "eel" onboard the U-Boot. Great to have you on the U-47 Fourm!
Auf Wiederhoren!

Dear Dan Bauer,
my grandfather was Oberbootsmann. He died 30 days later than the others from the boat in Recive Brasilia.
Has your father survived?
Nice to meet you.
Best regards
Daryl

Dear Dan,
my father was born in 1942 and my grandfather from the U-848 Hans Schade, died december 1943. So my father never meet his father. You can see on the u-boat net the story from Hans Schade and a report.
It´s fine, that your father was Ok. He don´t want to live in germany after the war ? My english isnt very well, sorry. How is you german ? I think good, because you were in Bonn and you have german parents.
I was born in 1965 and over a few years ago, we have found the story about my grandfather first. Bevore this time, we never know his last days or his place who he was died. Always in Kiel/Möltenort, there was a U-Boot list with all crews, I think you know it.
Best regards
Daryl = Daniele Schade
