Hello All
My name is Doruk Akyüz and i am from Turkey/Ýzmir. I am always interested about sea because of my fathers job (captain) and military history (especially WW2). I wanted to enter to the Turkish Navy, but i am a lazy student and the reason of it i couldn't enter the military school. Now i am studing about history (sigh)...

Welcome aboard Josef. I see you are a Sven Hassel fan. I enjoy his books every now and again myself, my two favorites are "Monte Cassino" and "Liquidate Paris". What kind of ship does your Father captain?

Monte Cassino is my favorite book too (also it is my first Sven Hassel Book). My father worked at tankers and cargo ships. But he resigned himself when i entered primary school and now he is the captian of his 13m. boat...

Hi Josef
Monte Cassino was the first Hassel book I read also, that was back in the 70's. Back then it was released in the U.S. as the "Beast Regiment".
Hearing of your Fathers jobs tells me you have the sea in your blood. Do you ever see yourself getting out to sea?

I sailed with my father (and my mom) before the primary school. I had dreams about being a captain like my father at that time (now Günther Prien:)). But they are just nice dreams and now i am the second captain of his boat (sighs)...
