Hello everyone,

Many of us will be aware of the U 534 and the threats to her future. Just to recap, the Type IX U 534 was raised in 1993. Since then this great boat has resided at the Historic Warships Museum in Birkenhead in Liverpool, UK. Ever since the museum went into liquidation in 2005, the future of the U 534 has been threatened. The new owners are intending to chop the boat into three sections.  For obvious reasons this would be a tragedy. As one of only two surviving IXs - the other being the U 505 in Chicago - it is a great historical artifact. Chopping up this boat would be an incredible mistake.

The are two petitions that have recently been instituted to campaign for U 534 not to be cut up. One is for UK citizens, which will go directly to the British Prime Minister. The other is a global petition, for everybody (UK citizens can sign both).  Both petitions and info on the U 534 can be found at -

http://www.atlantik-pirat.com/Der%20Atlantik-Pirat.htm

Just click the U-534 link and a window will pop up. Please help by signing the petition - it only takes a few minutes and is well worth while.

Thanks folks,

Dougie

Hoping this petition carries enough weight to save the boat.

Good call Dougie - I've signed both.

I have also thanks to my wonderful home-made CMS edited the home page news to include a link to the petitions so that visitors to the site can sign them.

Hi All1

Signed the Global one. This would be a terrible loss if U-boat would be cut up! Even if it was welded back together it would not be the same!

Regards,

Signed the global one also, I can't believe they're even contemplating putting such a historical artifact to the torch!!

Signed the global one. Convinced two of my mates in the UK to sign as well.

Hi, Does anyone know if it is still possible to view the U-534?
I'm hoping to visit the site before they cut her up in Sept this year.
I would like to archive as much as I can by digital SLR camera.

Thanks,

Jamie (UK)

Hi!

Don't know if you can still view the U-Boot.  Lets hope they do not cut up an important historical artifact!!! That would be a terrible waste!

Regards,

Hello everyone,

I just want to thank you all for signing up. Hopefully the powers that be will take note and keep it in one piece!

Thanks again,

Dougie
