I just realised this probably is the model zone I was waiting for :( Somehow I expected it to be accessible from the main potal :)

Anyway, here are som pictures of my finished U-47 model. It's the Revell 1/125 kit that originally was the U-99 because I preferred the closed model over the U-47 open one.

Hi Peter,

Very nice!

There is a difference in the tower between the U 99 and U 47 Revell kits. The U 47 one has the 20mm on the aft deck, the U 99 has the 20mm on the tower. The U 99 also has the L-shaped trunks.

As your model is based on the U 99 kit, your model has the L-shaped air trunk as well. U 47 got this modification in the summer of 1940. So your model depicts U 47 after the summer of 1940.

A lovely model. Many thanks for sharing these with us.

Cheers,

Dougie

Thanks, it's resting in it's own model display case which if offered through the portal.  We managed to get it over here undamaged. Will upload a picture of that also, but I'll have to dust it first

I used a cork board like you use on floor and cut cylinders out of that with a pair of plyers to make holes in belts Not the best sollution, but the best I could think of then,
