Yeah also still around. Been to spain for four weeks. before that to Malawi for two weeks.

And ... in four weeks I will be going the weekend to Kiel, Germany. Why ? Because there is a great hotel with spa there for my wife, and ... nearby Laboe, with the german Marine Ehrenmal, where there is a remeberance plaque of among others, the U-47 and not in the least a complete model VII U-boat on display as a museum, the U-995 :)

Well, I am in Kiel, Germany right now. This morning I visited the Marine Rhrenmahl in Laboe. It was very impressive. As I expected somehow, the u-boats were not mentioned. Apparently when builidng the ehrenmahl the u-boats had such a bad name they were somehow "forgotten" This however was made up by building them a ehrenmal at Moeltenort, nearby. So after a tour through the U-995 which is in fornt of the ehrenmahl. I went to Moeltenort to see the u-boat memorial. I found the plate with the U47 and took my own pictures of it. Will pst some when I get home again. Man what was a u-boat a small thing... Fortunately I watched my steo otherwise I would have 20 bumps or so on my head. Just now I realised there may be a plate of Dan's U-201 also. If time permits, I'll go back tomorrow the see if I can find that. I was not able to return to the u-boot ehrenmal to look for a U-201 memorial :( I was glad I made it home in reasonable time as it was. Geez, the so praised german highways were heavy under construction. But... my wife realy enjoyed the hotel, so I'll probably be going back someday. See if there is anything left of the shipyard the warships were made.

Note to Herr Kaleun: since this is a type VII/C which is not that different from the type VII/B you may want to use some pictures to show at the boat pages ?? If have lots more, so if you wish I can make them available to you. Photography was allowed for non-commercial purposes, so I guess you can use the images.
