Well here I am with only my second post and I'm already one world war behind but, does anyone know of any WW1 U-Boat models? I know there used to be a resin kit of U-35, are there any others?

Hello!
I know what you mean, not too much in the way of WWI U-Booten!
I wish Revell of Germany would come out with a 1/72 Type IX C, now that the US Fleet sub is out! They would be close in size.
Regards,

I got the" Yankee Modelworks" 1/350 U35. Its all resin (hull and conning tower) and everything else is P/E and a couple of brass rods. The hull and conning tower are one piece. Must be about six inches in length. Haven't started on it yet as I'm building a Panzer IV at the moment.

Hello Panther 44!
How is that kit of U-35. Is the detail ok? I just finished the two resin kits of the 1/72 Bibers for my U-295 project. They went together really well.... with lots of putty to fillall the gaps!! These kits came from Poland, and for instructions they give you a set of line drawings! These little kits are not for the faint at heart to say the least!
I also have a Panzer IV waiting in the wings! I plan to convert it into a Syrian version!
Best Regards,

Got the kit right here in front of me and I can safely say that the detail in the resin is very nice. Very fine lines, and to add to my last post on parts breakdown I forgot there is 4 white metal pieces( 2 deck canon and 2 propeller 'V' struts). I read a couple of years ago in a ship modelers magazine that the reviewers kit had a badly warped hull. But mine is as straight as an arrow, he dipped his example in very hot water and did manage to get it straightened out. This kit also has a very interesting antenna array, two 'poles' stand straight up out of the side of the hull fore and aft and then there is a fine PE double antenna that stretches between the two 'poles'. Another interesting point, (at least to me) is that the conning tower sits farther back then it's WW2 brothers. Once together I think it's going to be a pretty sharp model. I already have a clear acrylic case to keep it in when done. Figured I'ld do a dry dock type setting.

Is the kit from Poland a 'Mirage' kit?

Hello again!
The Bibers are from Shoroszy. They are the only 1/72 scale models made of the Biber min-sub that I know of. I plan to put two of them on the deck of my U-295 project. They were training with these for "Operation Caesar" . The plan was to sail up to a Russian Naval basa and release the Bibers in the harbor. The Bibers were damaged inroute and the operation was canceled.
Would like to see a pic of the U-35 after you finish!
Regards,

Hello Panther 44!
I now have the hull together. I also have the wood deck in place. I shot the base colour on the Tower and on of the Bibers. I used Dunkelgrau 51 on those. Today I am going to shoot the base colour of Heilgrau 50 on the upper hull and the other Biber. Are you still working on the PZ IV ? What model is it?
Regards,
Dan B.

Hello dbauer
Yes I'm still working on my PZ IV J, It's the Tamiya 1/48 scale. I used to build a lot of the Bandai kits back in the seventies, and I really like armor in this scale. In ways the old Bandai kits got a bit of an edge on the Tamiya kits because they had interiors, ie Engines, transmissions, drivers compartments, they were pretty advanced for the times.
I see you got the wooden deck. What do you think of it? Do you happen to get Finescale Modeler? Did you see the Revell 1/72 cutaway. If you haven't you should try and get a hold of the Sept 06 issue and check it out, fantastic U-boat. Other then the wooden deck what other goodies did you get for your build?
