Welcome back! Finally, we're back to our favorite place, doing what we do best - helping you find the dress of your dreams formal dresses ...we couldn't be happier!

There are so many amazing stylists, designers, creatives and make-up artists in North East Scotland and we are eager to showcase the wonderful work of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire bridal suppliers. Today we're excited to share with you an exclusive guest blog from our talented, award-winning bridal hairstylist, Gemma Taylor.

After training at the Toni & Guy Academy in London, Gemma was mentored by some of the world's most famous hairstylists. Gemma has worked in Aberdeen's leading hair salons throughout her career before finding her calling as a bridal stylist six years ago. 500 wedding parties and god knows how many hairstyles came after, we are huge admirers of Gemma's imagination and talent.

When Gemma isn't making her bride look and feel great, she's spending her days with her husband, playing with their beautiful puppy, Willow. In Gemma's latest venture, she's developed an educational program for aspiring occasion stylists, which will debut later this year!

As you know, our specialty at Midnight Elegance is dresses, so we asked Gemma to guide us in choosing which hairdo will best suit your gorgeous gown. While Gemma stresses that there are no boundaries, she does offer helpful tips and advice to get you started. Let Gemma tell all about buns, textured braids, bouncy blow dryers and ponytails for your special day.

I’ve been missing weddings like crazy, but this time away has its perks – I feel super refreshed, inspired and excited to see all my lovely brides! I really enjoyed seeing, bittersweet as it was, how the postponed wedding couple managed to commemorate and celebrate their original wedding day. The photos and videos I saw were really heartwarming and the creativity and resilience these couples showed, managing to stay positive in the face of what must have been an overwhelming disappointment, was amazing. Guys, your day is about to get even more exciting to wait for! !

The lovely Kathy of Midnight Elegance asked me if I'd do a blog for her about bridal hairstyles related to The Dress. Now, I've never blogged (or anything, really) before, so over a cup of tea and a cookie, I'll do my best to put on paper what's going on in my head during a wedding consultation...

Rule number 1 – no rule. If you're in love with that lace turtleneck gown, but you just feel like all sorts of things are wrong with your hair up, that's fine. We'll make it work. Rules are made to be broken, right? But these are my general guidelines when deciding how to style my hair with a particular neckline and silhouette.
