I'm pretty sure there is something on this in the Russ Schnieder book, "Gotterdammerung". Was not the ship the "Wilhelm Gustloff" part of this operation? Much lose of life there, yet the operation as a whole was one of the Kriegsmarine's finest moments. Evacuating thousands of civilians and soldiers from the clutches of the red army. I'll try and dig up some more facts for you.

Thanks Panther44. Yes, the Wilhelm Gustloff was part of the operation. I remember reading in a book by James Lucas that the US Navy had high words for this operation.

Hello !

As I recall , also Prinz Eugen and  one of the Light Cruisers were also involved.  Also Prinz also ramed the Light Cruiser too.

Regards,

I don't recall if any U-Bootn were involved in this Operation. But I could be mistaken. Hope this helps.

Regards,
