I really don't know what they are but they are at least likely to include writing a launcher that RuneScape gold may work through steam. Steam also distributes updates for games on the platform so you have to get a means to get the upgrade. Not impossible jobs although not 5 minute ones either. And you've got to ask, what would it perform? Sure enough steam might potentially raise visibility of RuneScape, but does it need it? Runescape's problem is not that people haven't heard of RuneScape - it's that people don't want to play it. Even individuals who have never played an MMORPG in their lifetime have heard of runescape.
The issue is getting them to perform, would being on things like steam assistance that? But it's not certain. Steam has games with their own launchers, although I might be speaking out of my ass here. The RuneScape client has its own launcher without a user interface. They'd just have to have the wrapper on steam/epic, which would just have to get upgraded when there are significant client updates in which you have to redownload it in the site (which doesn't occur frequently, right?). Not sure how they'd handle revenue sharing. All of RuneScape purchases are done through a weblink rather than in RuneScape game, but they might probably mplement a steam shop for runecoins keys.
Yep lots of steam games have their own launchers but from what I have seen upgrades are still handled by them via steam instead of via the launcher. Meaning every week they would be pushing updates via steam in addition to through Apple, android and the present desktop client.
Ohh and valve want you to add steam wallet instead even in web link stores. And any in RuneScape game purchases need to be secured so that a participant accessing through steam can pay via steam. Basically, they need their money, you can not blame them but it's full of negatives from the perspective of jagex. In addition you have the upgrade process generally, I don't understand what type of lead time steam want with updates being pushed and if this will work with how frequently RS is updated. Many mmos have their own launcher, and steam upgrades only upgrade the launcher. Steam retains up the launcher to date, the launcher patches RuneScape, entirely outside of steam.
How do you understand this? Surely you must not be so delusional to think that your armchair understanding is superior to Jagex, a company with hundreds of workers who would have considered the possibility of starting on Steam + done a extensive cost-profit analysis. This is a business that is gaining record profits while using a dwindling player base (RS3). Being a company doesn't mean you're unexpectedly god when it comes to these choices. They didn't even contemplate OSRS that turned out to be a success, and until gamers began petitioning and complaining about it.
I guess that they must have just not realized it was even though people were begging because the release of EoC for it. Surethey do not always know best. My point isn't that Jagex is all-knowing and could be counted on to consistently make the proper decisions. It is without considering the entire picture, that a great deal of players create suggestions.
RuneScape moving to upgrades
Of course the majority of the comments will be"haven't they done that" but lets actually have a discussion. They're officially changing the anticipation from every Monday having something to it really only being a month. Seems like they are opting for the end of the month as a launch point for each of their upgrades. They've done this previously, but its nice to know that upgrades are coming at the end of the month and they use the month to construct hype for that update, sort of like how they declared Desperate Measures 20 days ahead of its launch.
As a whole I think this is a fantastic thing, for both players and Jagex. We don't have to log into every Monday to understand there is not something brand new and instead can concentrate on the last Monday of this month and by the time it comes around we'll know what the upgrade is. In all honesty I think they must ramp down their attention on graphic fidelity, OSRS more than anything should be a indication that folks mostly care about the mechanics of RuneScape. Visuals that are barebones'd be taken by me in exchange for significantly expedited upgrade schedule. I mean just reuse and repurpose a few of the models or cartoons out of buy RS gold past and rig some quality content.
