Just got done watching 'Das Boot' the directors cut, I understand that this movie in it's original release is six hours long. Anyone here seen it? And if so can you tell me what I'm missing.

Hi Mike!

saw it once while I was over in Germany. The Director's cut in German is close.

Acouple of deleated scenes are when the U-Boat salior is trying to calm his girl friend about his going. Another scene is the bar girl flirting with the PK Lt. in the bar. Also a scene when the Capt. complaining to the Navigator after their close encounter with another U-Boat. There may be more scenes I can't remember....

The miniseries basically fleshes out the story and provides a bit of further background on the characters. If you really want to get to know the crew, the miniseries is the way to go. If you check out the shop on the main site you should find it there through an Amazon link - I haven't updated the database though so check out if the prices are correct.

There are an additional 93 or so minutes on the miniseries, so that's quite a bit of extra stuff.
