Hi Dan,
Still on board. Did you see there was a batch of 10 pics of U 47 on
Ebay recently? Most were ones that we've seen but there were two
pre-war ones I hadn't seen before. Didn't manage to get them myself as
I was outbid. Was anyone here the highest bidder?
Cheers,
Dougie

Didn't know they were there, but I probably would have been outbid anyways.
I'm still aboard. Tried to post something about U-196 earlier, but the forums went sketchy on me and ate my post. I'll go write it up again and repost in the Wintergarten.

Hello Dougie and Pavel !
Glad to know you both are still here. No, I did not see the photos on E-Bay. Were they originals or copies? I am still working on my U-218 project. So that and other things have keep me busy.
I will post latest progress on Forum of U-218.
Good to hear from you both.
Best Regards,

Hi guys,
I can't recall if the photos of U 47 were originals or copies. There are two new images of the boat now at -
http://cgi.ebay.de/Top-Foto-Kptl-Prien-auf-U-47-Held-v-Sca pa-Flow-RAR_W0QQitemZ250185485172QQihZ015QQcategoryZ15504QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.de/Unterseeboot-U-Boot-U-47-Prien-mit-Mali ng-Stier_W0QQitemZ170167972053QQihZ007QQcategoryZ15504QQssPa geNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Both were taken in Lorient. On the top image, going by the bull and
Prien's clothing, it looks very much like in the build up to departure
on the 8th patrol in mid-October 1940.
There is a light grey Type IX beside U 47 in the bottom pic. I've seen
two shots of this Hellgrau 50 painted IX lying next to U 47, and the
camo nets in the same positions. These were taken before patrol 9 so
this image very likely was too.
Ebay has its uses!
Cheers to everyone,
Dougie
