L01. 24th October 1939, sailing to Germaniawerft, Kiel
At first glance this photo resembles those taken around Kiel harbour on the 23rd October. Two features prove that this is not the case. Firstly, the torpedo loading apparatus on the aft deck is extended, which was not the case on the 23rd. Secondly, the bollards near the stern are extended, as was the case in L03. In I04 and I06 (taken on the 23rd) these bollards are retracted. This photo shows U 47 sailing to the Germaniawerft shipyards. (Int 1 & 2)

This was taken just before L03, when U-47 was about to go into the Germaniawerft shipyards for repairs. Note the exhaust staining around and abaft of the diesel exhaust hole. (Atlas)

L03. 24th October 1939, sailing to Germaniawerft, Kiel
U-47 arrives at the Germaniawerft shipyards for repairs, with the torpedo loading apparatus extended on the aft deck. The fairlead near the stern, which was not included in the Amati kit, is plainly visible. It is also apparent that the two jumping wires enter the metal section of deck near the stern in two places rather than the one position suggested in the Amati instructions. (Weg, Phantom)
