The Snorting Bull
Introduction
One of the most famous U-boat emblems of the war, the "Snorting Bull" was later to be adopted as the official emblem of the 7th U-boat Flotilla "Weneger" (named after the commander of the WWI U-boat U-27, Bernd Weneger) based at St. Nazaire on the French Atlantic coast.
This section of the site covers the subsequent adoption of the "Snorting Bull" as the official emblem of the 7th U-boat Flotilla following the loss of U-47 in the spring of 1941, as well as the story of its interesting and rather less than fearsome cousin, the 'Laughing Cow' of Lorient, sported on the tower of U-69.
